UFC 187 has been largely free of any card-crippling injuries, but the biggest change was clearly Jon Jones' hit-and-run incident forcing him to be stripped of his belt and removed from the card entirely. Jones was due to defend his light heavyweight title against Anthony Johnson, but now the vacant belt will be contested between Rumble and Daniel Cormier.
In the co-main, Chris Weidman defends his middleweight strap vs. Vitor Belfort on the 57th attempt to book this fight. Also on the main card is John Makdessi, replacing the injured Khabib Nurmagomedov, to take on Donald Cerrone. Rounding out the PPV are heavyweights Andrei Arlovski and Travis Browne, plus flyweights Joseph Benavidez and John Moraga.
