Top flyweight fighter Jussier Formiga released by UFC

The UFC has decided to release one of their longest-tenured flyweights.

Jussier Formiga (23-8, 9-7 UFC) entered the UFC in 2012 and hovered around the top five of the division pretty much the whole time. However, after three straight losses where he was finished twice, the promotion has sent him on his way. MMA Fighting is reporting the news via several anonymous sources.

Once ranked as the number one 125-pound fighter in the world before the the UFC brought in the weight class, he entered the promotion and was placed right into a number one contender fight with John Dodson.
