The “Fire Kid” is going to have to wait until next year to light up the Octagon again.
French bantamweight Tom Duquesnoy announced Tuesday that an intercostal hematoma has forced him to withdraw from his upcoming bout opposite Nathaniel Wood at UFC 232 on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas.
In Duquesnoy’s statement, which he put up on Instagram, he wrote that the hematoma will prevent him from training for the Wood fight, but he is hoping to re-schedule the bout for sometime in February.
The 25-year-old joined the UFC last year as a top prospect after compiling a 14-1 (1 NC) record competing in Europe, where he captured and successfully defended BAMMA titles at both 135 and 145 pounds.
