Puerto Rican superstar Miguel Cotto continued his unexpected resurgence last Saturday night (June 6, 2015) by steamrolling former middleweight champion Daniel Geale at boxing's newfound home: Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
Cotto (40-4-0, 33 KO) thoroughly dominated his larger foe throughout the entirety of their clash, utilizing a wilting body attack to great effect. Geale (31-4, 16 KO) went down in the fourth round to a cracking left hook, then again from a nasty flurry. Though he made it to his feet and was clearly lucid, the Australian veteran shook his head when asked if he wished to continue.
Cotto now has three straight finishes since back-to-back losses to Floyd Mayweather and Austin Trout, but the biggest storyline to come out of this is his claim that "Canelo" Alvarez is his next opponent.
