Injuries have once again resulted in a change to the main card of a televised mixed martial arts (MMA) event.
Kickboxing sensation and undefeated (2-0) MMA fighter Tyrone Spong, frequently seen on the current season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 21 as an enforcer for the Blackzilians, is withdrawing from the upcoming World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 22 event on Aug. 1, 2015, due to an injury to his MCL.
Spong was originally scheduled to face veteran fighter Mike Kyle (21-12-1, 2 NC).
The replacement bout for WSOF 22, headlined by welterweight champion Rousimar Palhares and fellow UFC import Jake Shields inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, will see Kyle squaring off against Thiago Silva, who was last seen taking a surprising first round technical knockout loss at the hands of Teddy Holder in the promotion's light heavyweight tournament.
