Gervonta Davis (24-0, 23 KOs) and Leo Santa Cruz (37-2-1, 19 KOs) had the 9,000+ fans inside San Antonio’s Alamodome hyped up after six highly entertaining rounds of boxing in Saturday’s Showtime PPV main event. In the end, it was Davis’ devastating one-shot power that ended October with a bang, as he knocked Mexico’s Santa Cruz out with a wicked left uppercut that had him unconscious before he hit the canvas.
Davis is now the WBA super-featherweight champion, in addition to holding a secondary title at 135 lbs. For someone who has shown exemplary punching power but not much in the way of actual quality wins on his resume, icing LSC the way he did is about as big a statement as he could possibly make in this matchup.
