UFC welterweight talent Gunnar Nelson suffered the worst loss of his career at UFC Fight Night 113, losing via first-round knock out to the No. 9 ranked Santiago Ponzinibbio.
Ponzinibbio, 30, crumpled Nelson with a right straight and a left jab but landed a series of blatant eye pokes in the lead-up to the KO.
Nelson’s longtime coach, John Kavanagh, wasn’t happy about it and the team filed a complaint to the UFC in hopes of having the loss overturned to a no contest.
According to Nelson’s management team Paradigm Sports, however, the UFC has rejected ‘Gunni’s’ appeal and will not be looking into the issue any further.
