If it weren’t for UFC 229, Bellator’s back to back fight cards this week might really steal the spotlight. Two talent-heavy events on consecutive nights should mean a real chance for a few notable fighters to shine. However, it’s hard to shake the feeling that the fallout from Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor has overshadowed everything else. Even with fights like Chael Sonnen vs. Fedor Emelianenko, Matt Mitrione vs. Ryan Bader, Roy Nelson vs. Sergei Kharitonov, and Ben Henderson, Alexander Shlemenko, and Lorenz Larkin all in interesting bouts, it may take something truly remarkable to break out from under the UFC 229 narrative.
