Submission alert! Watch Mackenzie Dern contort opponent at Legacy FC 61 to earn first career stoppage

There is a plethora of hype surrounding Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) phenom Mackenzie Dern and her transition over to professional mixed martial arts (MMA). The 23-year-old grappling wizard made a successful debut back in July and looked to continue her winning ways last night (Fri., Oct. 14, 2016) at Legacy FC 61 in Dallas, Texas, opposite Montana Stewart.

Despite coming into the fight on a five-fight win streak with four decisive submission victories, Stewart was no match for Dern. In a matter of minutes, Dern attacked her 21-year-old counterpart from the bottom by utilizing a tight rubber guard to tie up an arm, contort Stewart's body and sink in a perfectly-timed omoplata and rear-naked choke.
