Coming off of a deflating loss to former heavyweight champ Junior Dos Santos in his last appearance, there was no question that Stipe Miocic needed a convincing win in order to remain one of the division’s legitimate contenders when he entered the octagon to face Mark Hunt in the main event of Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night 65 in Adelaide, Australia.
With the pro-Hunt crowd hoping for the knockout, Miocic didn’t hesitate to employ a frustrating mix of take-down attempts and bone-crushing strikes that eventually left his 41-year old opponent looking more like Rocky Balboa than one of the division’s most feared finishers.
