Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavweight champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua survived getting wobbled and nearly finished in the first round of UFC 190 co-main event last night (Sat., Aug. 1, 2015) to break a two-fight losing streak.
Rua came out looking much more agile and quick than in previous contests where he was knocked out consecutively by Dan Henderson and Ovince St-Preux, landing kicks to the body and trading punches patiently.
However, late in the first round the wily veteran Antônio Rogério Nogueira landed a jab that wobbled the former PRIDE Fighting veteran and swooped in for the kill.
