Rousimar Palhares asks for WSOF release, holds 170-pound belt hostage in Brazil

Mixed martial arts (MMA) loose cannon, Rousimar Palhares, was stripped of his welterweight title and suspended indefinitely by World Series of Fighting (WSOF), thanks to a mental lapse during his championship showdown against Jake Shields on NBC Sports.

In addition, "Toquinho" will face disciplinary action from Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), which already doled out its obligatory slap on the wrist to Shields. As for the Brazilian, he has no interest in returning to the Ray Sefo-led fight promotion.
