Rizin Fighting Federation will hold its first-ever women’s grand prix beginning on Oct. 15.
The Japanese promotion announced Tuesday that it will begin a super atomweight (108 pound) tournament on Oct. 15 at Marine Messe Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan. The bracket will continue during Rizin’s Dec. 29 and Dec. 31 events in Saitama, Japan.
“We are very excited to be able to hold the first ever women’s grand prix, and we believe that with having the total amount of 10 million Japanese yen prize money, this is the biggest women’s tournament in the world,” Rizin chairman Nobuyuki Sakakibara said in a release.
