MMA legend Kevin ‘Kimbo Slice’ Ferguson passed away last night in Florida after being rushed to the hospital. He was only 42. The cause of death was reportedly heart failure.
The King of the Streets rose to fame as a backyard brawler in YouTube videos before making the jump to legit MMA promotions, first with EliteXC, then the UFC (after a stint on The Ultimate Fighter) and finally Bellator, where he was scheduled to fight James Thompson as the headliner at next month’s Bellator 158. His last appearance in the cage saw him beat long-time rival Dada 5000, only to have the results overturned due to failing a drug test for anabolic steroids.
