A rib injury forced Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal out of the Light Heavyweight tournament final at Bellator 142: "Dynamite 1" last night (Sat., Sept. 19, 2015).
Lawal, 34, won his semifinal bout, defeating Linton Vassel by unanimous decision to advance to the final, but it would be tournament reserve winner Francois Carmont -- who defeated Anthony Ruiz by unanimous decision -- that would fight in his place against Phil Davis.
"He had a rib injury and he couldn't continue," said Bellator CEO Scott Coker at the post-fight press conference. "When he went back there to get checked he said, ‘my rib hurts' after the first fight.
