With Augusto Mendes sidelined due to an injury, “Boom Boom” will now take on RFA featherweight champion Raoni Barcelos in a bantamweight bout in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Oct. 28. MMA Fighting confirmed the match-up following a report by Combate.
Barcelos (11-1) enters the Octagon for the first time riding a four-fight winning streak, which includes winning and defending the RFA 145-pound title. Barcelos fought for the last time exactly a year before UFC Sao Paulo, finishing Dan Moret at RFA 45.
Salmon (6-1) signed with the UFC after defeating Ricky Turcios via unanimous decision on the first edition of Dana White’s Contender Series in July.
