Oleksandr Gvozdyk def. Adonis Stevenson via KO (Round 11)
Oleksandr Gvozdyk is the new WBC Light Heavyweight champion, ending the 5 year title reign of Adonis Stevenson. And he ended that reign in style, putting the champion down and out in round 11.
For much of the fight, things were a relatively close technical battle. Stevenson started strong, taking rounds 1 and 2. The 3rd round opened with a crisp, perfect Gvozdyk counter dropping Stevenson, but the referee erroneously ruled it a slip. Gvozdyk took control from there, consistently outworking Stevenson. Round 10 was great action, with Stevenson hurting Gvozdyk and very nearly dropping him, only to see Gvozdyk come back and rally.
