Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the father of UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, has died at the age of 57 due to COVID-19 complications.
According to a report from RT Sport, the specific cause of death was “irreversible brain trauma caused by a stroke” and he was last residing at a hospital in Moscow. The news was first reported by Sputnik International, citing an announcement by Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov.
It was Abdulmanap who introduced Khabib to the world of martial arts when Khabib was eight years old, starting him off with wrestling training before the future MMA star added judo and sambo to his arsenal.
