Report: Rafael dos Anjos vs. Colby Covington interim title fight possible for UFC 224

Despite UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley insisting that he’ll be ready to return to action in July, apparently the wheels are in motion for an interim title fight to be booked.

A report from BJPenn.com says that a bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Colby Covington is targeted for UFC 224 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 12th. MMAjunkie says that Covington’s rep declined to comment on the report, while a UFC official said that there is “nothing official yet.”

Dos Anjos (28-9 MMA, 17-7 UFC) is 3-0 since moving up to welterweight last year, defeating Tarec Saffiedine, Neil Magny, and most recently former champion Robbie Lawler.
