Chris Weidman is set to return to the division he previously held the title at and defended three times, as he meets Omari Akhmedov in a middleweight bout in August 8th.
Igor Lazorin of TASS reported the matchup, though the UFC is yet to confirm the fight. The UFC is yet to reveal a location or a venue for their scheduled card.
Weidman (14-5) has been a shell of his former self since 2016, only winning one of his last six UFC fights. A KO loss to Jacare Souza prompted his move up to 205-pounds, but “The All American” was finished in his debut by Dominick Reyes.
