On Saturday, ESPN.com reported an undisclosed injury has now forced Holloway to pull out of their UFC 222 showdown. The UFC has yet to address Holloway’s status for the March 3 event, which goes down inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Holloway was initially slated to defends his UFC featherweight crown against Edgar in December at UFC 218 until Edgar was forced to withdraw with a broken orbital bone.
The UFC is reportedly scouring its roster to arrange a new main event for UFC 222.
As the card currently stands, a heavyweight tango between former champion Andrei Arlovski and Stefan Struve is slotted for the show’s co-main event.
