Several weeks ago, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov was transported from his native Dagestan to a military hospital in Moscow after falling ill with pneumonia and flu-like symptoms. As his condition worsened, the renowned coach suffered a heart attack and underwent surgery before being placed in a medically induced coma. Now it appears that Abdulmanap’s illness was brought on by COVID-19.
According to several reports from Russian media, the father of UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov suffered a heart attack shortly after it was confirmed that he had contracted the 2019 novel coronavirus.
The 57-year-old, who previously underwent heart surgery in 2019, initially fell ill in his hometown of Makhachkala, Dagestan, and was convinced by family members to visit a doctor, who later diagnosed him with pneumonia.
