Who knows what would have happened if the FOX network would have been successful in purchasing Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the world's largest and most profitable mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion, but it sounds like a very lucrative offer was on the table at some point this year.
"FOX made a substantial offer to buy them, according to [John] Ourand's report, for $3.6 billion," Richard Deutsch told MSN. "I guess the thought there was that FOX would own and operate all the content."
UFC instead went to the highest bidder, WME | IMG group, who coughed up more than $4 billion to enter the hurt business.
