In April of this year, Fabio Maldonado was in the co-main event of UFC 186 against Rampage Jackson. Now it looks like the Brazilian won't be part of the UFC's roster in 2016. A source close to BloodyElbow.com says that Maldonado has been released from the promotion following his unanimous decision loss to Corey Anderson at UFC Fight Night in Sao Paulo on November 7th. This follows an initial report from MMA Mais that Maldonado's manager confirmed the cut.
Maldonado (22-9) debuted in the UFC in 2010, stopping TUF 10's James McSweeney at UFC 120.
