Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight and welterweight champion B.J. Penn has suffered an undisclosed injury and will no longer be fighting featherweight veteran Ricardo Lamas at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 97 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on Oct. 15, 2016 inside SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.
MMA Junkie brought word of the Hawaiian's latest setback on Tuesday.
Penn, 37, was scheduled to fight Dennis Siver, then Cole Miller, at UFC 197 this past April, but "The Prodigy" was suspended six months by United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for an out-of-competition IV use dating back to March 25.
