Chris Weidman’s longtime coach Ray Longo had a few laughs after listening to Anderson Silva’s recent comments about his attempt to retire from the sport in 2012.
“The Spider” said in an interview with the UFC that he flew to Las Vegas in late 2012 to inform UFC heads Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta he decided to hang up his gloves. Silva was the middleweight champion at the time and was coming off a win over Stephan Bonnar in a 205-pound bout in Brazil.
In the video interview, the UFC legend said he was rewarded with a Bentley Continental GT by White and Fertitta shortly after that, something he felt as an attempt to “buy him off.
