While there is still a ways to go, the latest anti-doping case of Jon Jones has taken its first step toward resolution.
The California State Athletic Commission on Tuesday revoked the mixed martial arts license of Jones and issued a $205,000 fine to the former UFC light heavyweight champion for his failed UFC 214 drug screening. Jones tested positive for the anabolic steroid Turinabol in an in-competition drug test prior to his rematch against Daniel Cormier in July 2017. Jones’ case now moves into the hands of USADA, the UFC’s anti-doping partner who is expected to conduct a hearing with Jones later this year, at which point further sanctions will likely be imposed.
