In an unexpected turn of events, it seems Edson Barboza is no longer headed to the featherweight division and wants no more business in the Octagon altogether.
After saying he would try his hand in the 145 divison a few months ago, seasoned lightweight veteran Edson Barboza wrote a message to his bosses on his personal Twitter, asking to be released from his contract. He did not explain the reason why he wants to be let go, only claiming he has little time to wait.
Currently on a two-fight losing skid, Edson Barboza (20-8) dropped a split decision in a rematch with Paul Felder in his last outing, back in September 2019.
