Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight titleholder and one-time Wheaties frontman, Anthony Pettis, is abandoning his combat sports brethren at 155 pounds to try his luck in the featherweight division. In fact, we could see "Showtime" return as early as August, according to MMA Fighting.
Pettis (18-5) was riding high as lightweight kingpin thanks to a five-fight winning streak, one that included four consecutive finishes. Then came a lopsided loss to Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 185, followed by another two goose eggs opposite Eddie Alvarez and Edson Barboza.
Nothing is official at this time, but it's hard to imagine Pettis, 29, won't get a top 10 featherweight once his transformation is complete.
