Phil Davis negotiating with Bellator MMA, could sign as early as next week

It's understandable if Liam McGeary is looking over his shoulder.

Former UFC light heavyweight contender Phil Davis, who was left without a ZUFFA contract following a split-decision loss to Ryan Bader at UFC on FOX 14, is currently negotiating with Bellator MMA and could put pen to paper as early as next week, according to MMA Fighting (via MMA Sun).

Davis is still ranked No. 7 at 205 pounds in the official UFC rankings, holding signature victories over former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida, as well as ex-No. 1 contenders Glover Teixeira and Alexander Gustafsson.
