It appears that Renan Barao might not be moving up to featherweight after all, at least according to manager Andre Pederneiras.
Renan Barao has done a lot of good work at 135 pounds in the UFC - he won a title, defended it twice, and has eight wins overall. But two losses to T.J. Dillashaw and a few other factors seemed to have Barao on his way to 145 pounds. Dana White recommended it a few months ago, and Barao himself apparently confirmed it on a Brazilian TV show.
But not so fast - his manager Andre Pederneiras told Braziilian media (via MMA Fighting) that he could actually stay at bantamweight:
"Barao moving up or not depends on some factors that I can’t say right now," Pederneiras told the media in Brazil.
