Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) was the huge favorite to beat Chris Algieri (20-2, 8 KOs) in the Premier Boxing Champions main event on Spike TV, and while he got the win it was far tougher than he expected it to be. In front of a very lively 7,372 fans (upper bowl closed off for this Friday night card) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Khan took an entertaining back-and-forth unanimous decision over the Long Island native.
Algieri, now under new trainer John David Jackson, came out with a surprisingly aggressive, pressure-based fight plan that gave Khan plenty of fits in the first half of the fight.
