The PBC on Fox main event seemed to be booked in order to showcase Deontay Wilder. Wilder was there to defend his title against Gerald Washington and extend his KO streak in front of a very partisan hometown crowd. In the end, he did just that, but it was a tough road to get there.
For the first four rounds, Wilder looked decidedly off. Whether it was nerves in front of his fans, struggles after returning from a pair of injuries, or some other factors, this was not the Deontay Wilder we expected to see. His volume was quite low, as he allowed Washington to outland him.
