Paulo Costa Criticizes 'Shameful' Jeremy Stephens After No-Contest in Mexico City

The 15-second main event of UFC Fight Night 159 was practically over before it began, but the controversy is ongoing, and middleweight contender Paulo Henrique Costa has injected his opinion into the discussion.

In an early exchange, Jeremy Stephens’ eye was raked by the extended fingers of Yair Rodriguez. After a five-minute break given by referee Herb Dean, Stephens was still unable to open his eye, and as the strike had been ruled inadvertent, the fight was declared a no-contest, much to the ire of the Mexico City crowd, which pelted the cage, fighters and announcers’ table with trash.
