Patrick Cummins Says He’s Off UFC 217 Card Due to ‘Mutant Staph Infection’

It appears that Patrick Cummins won’t be competing at Madison Square Garden next month.

The light heavyweight announced via Instagram that he is out of UFC 217 due to a staph infection.

“IV antibiotics haven’t touched my mutant staph infection,” Cummins wrote. “UFC 217 isn’t gonna happen for me. Sorry everyone.”

Cummins was scheduled to face Corey Anderson on Nov. 4 in New York. The promotion has not announced Cummins withdrawal. UFC 217 is headlined by a middleweight title bout between Michael Bisping and Georges St. Pierre and airs on pay-per-view.
