The former UFC flyweight king was matched up against Yuya Wakamatsu in a flyweight grand prix quarter-final bout at ONE: New Era in Tokyo, Japan, and got the finish in the second round. After a competitive opening round, “Mighty Mouse” went for a takedown and worked on a choke from the mount, but Wakamatsu was able to fight it through.
Seconds later, Johnson took advantage of the different ruleset to land a few knees to the head of a grounded Wakamatsu before locking in a guillotine choke that forced the 24-year-old Japanese fighter to tap in Tokyo.
”I love the knees to the grounded opponent,” Johnson said after the win.
