The Nevada State Athletic Commission have wasted no time in reviewing the World Series of Fighting 22 welterweight title fight between Rousimar Palhares and Jake Shields. Palhares defended his WSOF title for the second time when he submitted Jake Shields with a kimura in the third round, however, the Brazilian was stripped of the belt shortly after due to his unsportsmanlike conduct in the bout.
'Toquinho' repeatedly gouged Shields' eyes and held onto the kimura after his opponent had tapped multiple times, prompting Shields to strike Rousimar after the bell. The NSAC have decided to temporarily suspend both fighters for their actions on August 1st, and they will face a disciplinary hearing on September 13th.
