When you fight Yoel Romero, you are never far from danger.
Romero knocked out Luke Rockhold with a pair of left hands in the third round of their UFC 221 headliner on Saturday at Perth Arena in Perth, Australia. Rockhold (16-4, 6-3 UFC) bowed out 1:48 into Round 3, his bid for the interim Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight crown going unrewarded. Because he was overweight for the bout, Romero (13-2, 9-1 UFC) was not eligible for the title.
Rockhold controlled much of the first 10 minutes with a steady jab and kicks the legs and body, though Romero reminded everyone of his explosive nature with a flurry of punches in the second round.
