Nick Diaz Marijuana Suspension Reduced From 5 Years To 18 Months

During Tuesday’s NAC meeting, it was revealed the two sides reached a settlement to reduce the ridiculous five-year suspension the commission handed Diaz last September after flunking his UFC 183 drug test for marijuana. Diaz is now banned just 18 months, retroactive to his January 31, 2015 bout against Anderson Silva.

Diaz’s previous $165,000 (33 percent of his $500,000 UFC 183 purse) fine was also lowered to $100,000.

Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com first reported the deal.

It was clear the NAC has had it out for Diaz for a while. This was the third time the controversial fighter had failed a marijuana test under their watch.
