Weeks after the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) moved to dramatically reduce the penalty given to Conor McGregor over the UFC 202 press conference melee, Nate Diaz received the same treatment.
Diaz’s punishment was dropped to a $15,000 fine and 15 hours of community service during a Wednesday meeting of the NAC. The adjusted amount marks a sharp departure from the $50,000 fine — or 2.5 percent of Diaz’s $2 million purse for UFC 202 — and 50 hours of community service initially handed down to him by the commission in December.
The decision, which was agreed on unanimously by members of the NAC, puts a final stamp on a saga that has dragged on for more than eight months, stemming from an Aug.
