It looks like Nate Diaz will finally make his long-awaited return to the Octagon.
The former UFC title challenger has verbally agreed to fight Anthony Pettis in a welterweight bout that’s set to go down at UFC 241 in Anaheim, Calif. on Aug. 17. The news was first reported by ESPN, and was later confirmed by MMA Fighting.
Diaz hasn’t fought since his two star-making fights with Conor McGregor, the last one being at UFC 202 in 2016. The veteran fighter was supposed to make a comeback in 2018, as he was set to face current UFC interim lightweight champ Dustin Poirier last November.
