The Nevada Athletic Commission handed down a punishment of community service Monday for Shields with regards to his punching Rousimar Palhares after the bell in their World Series of Fighting 22 main event last month.
Shields must complete 50 hours of community service in a six-month period and provide documentation of those hours before being licensed to fight again in Nevada. He is also responsible for any administrative fees related to Monday's hearing.
Palhares beat Shields to retain his WSOF welterweight title via kimura submission in the third round and held on after referee Steve Mazzagatti tried to break up the action.
