On Wednesday, Georges St-Pierre, Tim Kennedy, T.J. Dillashaw, Cain Velasquez, and Donald Cerrone, along with former Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, announced the formation of a new organization created to serve fighter interests called the MMA Athletes Association. It was an announcement met with largely positive reviews.
However, there were some notable detractors to the announcement who objected to the inclusion of Rebney who has a checkered past with many fighters. He infamously sued the well respected and well-liked Eddie Alvarez over a contract dispute and Ben Saunders and Muhammed Lawal (among others) have been very vocal opponents of his business practices.
