Another day, another entry into the infinite morass that is Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor.
In the last two weeks, hype surrounding the biggest cross-over super-fight in the world has reached a fever pitch. UFC President Dana White, once seen as one of the biggest impediments to the creation of the bout, finally came out and said that he “doesn’t see how it doesn’t happen”, and McGregor himself said that the fight is “close to done” and being targeted for September. These comments came shortly after McGregor erupted at boxing media ringside at Madison Square Garden (at the professional debut of his friend and Irish Olympian, Michael Conlan) when McGregor screamed loudly to all that he was going “to shock the whole goddamn world” and knock out Floyd Mayweather.
