2020 has been a rollercoaster year for MMA, but perhaps no division has been in more turmoil than the UFC’s bantamweight division. But with Petr Yan crowned as the new champion last month, and obvious No. 1 contender Aljamain Sterling waiting in the wings, the 135-pound division may finally return to normalcy, at least that’s what Sterling believes will happen.
At UFC 250, Sterling submitted Cory Sandhagen in 88 seconds, earning a Performance of the Night bonus and putting a stamp on his claim for a bantamweight title shot. After the performance, UFC President Dana White even said as much.
