MMA veteran Melvin Guillard facing four felony charges in two separate incidents

The mixed martial arts veteran is facing charges of felony assault and misdemeanor domestic violence in Jefferson County, MMA Fighting confirmed Thursday after an initial report by TMZ.

Guillard was arrested April 23 by officers from the Lakewood Police Department. Guillard’s girlfriend told officers that, during an argument, Guillard put his hands around her neck and strangled her, because he didn’t want her to be too loud and wake others in the home, per an affidavit obtained by MMA Fighting via the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office.

The alleged victim said while he was choking her, she was “scared he might kill” her.
