MMA SQUARED: A global pandemic grinds nations to a halt, but not the UFC.

I’m trying to figure out what monetary obligation is compelling the UFC to avoid altering their intended fight schedule. Here are a few possibilities:

  1. Ambition: The opportunity to be the only live sport on television is too great to pass up.
  2. Obligation: The ESPN broadcast deal ties payment to the delivery of fight events.
  3. About number 2, maybe they can’t afford to miss a single ESPN payment because they paid themselves $300 million about a month ago.

Who knows? Maybe the fighters just wanna fight and who is our corporate overlord to tell us what they can and can’t do.
