EDMONTON, Alberta — Mitch Clarke called it a career in his adopted hometown.
The veteran Canadian lightweight announced his retirement on Saturday night following his second-round TKO loss to Alex White at UFC 215. The bout was the 31-year-old competitor’s third straight loss.
“It was great to fight here in Edmonton in my adopted hometown,” said Clarke. “Tonight, you saw my final fight.”
A native Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, who is now based in Edmonton, Clarke retires with a record of 11-5. While noted for his toughness, Clarke was 2-5 in the UFC. His highlight was a submission victory over Al Iquinta at UFC 173, which earned him a performance of the night bonus.
