Julian Marquez’s come-from-behind win at UFC 258 was not the wildest thing that happened to him on Saturday.
“The Cuban Missile Crisis” had plenty to celebrate already, returning from a long injury layoff to score his first win since December 2017 and doing so in dramatic fashion. Facing Maki Pitolo, Marquez appeared to be down on the scorecards after two hard-fought rounds, but he went all-out for a finish in the third to secure an anaconda choke submission with just 43 seconds remaining in the bout.
In the lead-up to his return, Marquez told the media he was planning to walk out to a Miley Cyrus cover of the classic Blondie song Heart of Glass.
