Former UFC lightweight and recent Bellator signing Melvin Guillard discussed his emotional state after the UFC released him early last year.
Melvin Guillard's World Series of Fighting run can best be described as "chaotic". The former UFC lightweight missed weight in both of his appearances, including by 4 pounds for his scheduled title fight with champion Justin Gaethje. He was pulled from a fight with Ozzy Dugulubgov after he failed to submit his pre-fight medicals, and was released from his WSOF contract shortly thereafter.
"The Young Assassin" spoke to MMA Fighting's Shaun Al-Shatti about his tumultuous post-UFC period, which he admitted included a bout with depression and contemplation over whether or not he'd ever compete again.
